Art Meets Beauty

Sarice Brudet × NICHE-BEAUTY

With our new initiative, “Art meets Beauty,” we aim to foster a dialogue between beauty, art, and contemporary culture. After all, beauty today is far more than a matter of appearance or a mere product. It is an expression of identity, aesthetics, and cultural change.

Beauty is Culture.

From the ancient concept of universal harmony, through the subjective experience of the Enlightenment, to today’s debates on identity, diversity, and digital visual cultures, beauty has evolved from a supposedly universal ideal into an open process of cultural negotiation. In the present day, beauty is a plural concept—culturally shaped, historically fluid, and the subject of both social and political debates.

This new initiative creates a space for interdisciplinary dialogue. It kicks off with a collaboration with Hamburg-based artist Sarice Brudet and her cultural project THE SPACE //—a place for encounters, dialogue, and discourse within the framework of a curated exhibition format that will be supported by the collaboration.

To give the initiative a special touch, a limited-edition Artist Box and an exclusive evening in Hamburg are at the heart of the collaboration with NICHE-BEAUTY. The evening is designed to bring together figures from the worlds of art, media, design, and beauty for conversation. The strictly limited-edition “The Artist Box,” curated by the artist, will be included with every purchase* starting July 19, 2026. (While supplies last.)

The special highlight of the collaboration is a raffle within the NICHE-BEAUTY community for an original artwork by Sarice Brudet from the 2026 “Context of Time” series: One person will win an original piece valued at €2,400 and thus become part of the story behind this edition.

Sarice Brudet (*1982, Gießen) is a Dutch artist with roots in the Netherlands, Indonesia, and Suriname. She lives and works in Hamburg. Her transcultural background shapes an artistic practice that explores questions of coexistence, cultural complexity in a global context, belonging, and the emotional facets of community.

Brudet understands painting as a space of relation, in which cultural complexity, imagination, and new forms of understanding are negotiated. Her works conceive of difference not as opposition, but as a prerequisite for relation, opening up possibilities for rethinking coexistence and community.

Composition, abstraction, and balance are at the heart of her artistic practice. She understands composition not as the mere arrangement of forms on a surface, but as a way of grasping relationships. Every gesture exists through another gesture and simultaneously alters the meaning of the next. She does not view abstract painting as a reduction, but as an act of resistance—an open space for thought and experience that creates streams of ideas for reinterpretation, in which composition becomes a vehicle for epistemic, cultural, social, and political questions.

Through multi-layered textures, compositions, and subtly nuanced color spaces, she explores how meaning emerges at the intersection of memory, perception, and encounter. In this context, abstraction opens up a space in which complexity can exist without being reduced to unambiguity.

Through her choice of materials such as raw fabrics—linen, hemp, jute, and cotton—she explores and symbolizes the tension between humans, nature, and constructed systems, whose only constant is change. Her compositions function as visual mediations—quiet spaces where complexity, memory, and movement converge in a search for belonging and transformation.

She mixes her pigments with earth, dust, ash, and fragments of found objects. These materials carry their own stories; they speak of encounters, landscapes, transformation, time, and transience.

The compositions are based on a folding technique and sculpturally designed canvases. For the artist, a fold encompasses both the visible and the hidden. She reminds us that every surface holds another interior within itself—another story that can be unfolded or is waiting to unfold.

Initially developed as a sketch on paper, the design evolves into a folding technique applied to the raw material, is then photographically documented, and finally transformed into a painting. In a metaphorical sense, her work is about gaining insight and making the invisible and structures visible while preserving the right to opacity. With these dynamic compositions, the artist seeks to capture the feeling of a balancing act. The elements, gestures, and structures complement one another rather than dominating each other.

The painting becomes a space for dialogue and a portal where diverse fragments and ideas converge—not to be assimilated into a single vision, but to exist in a dynamic and evolving relationship.

Her painterly work is complemented by semi-realistic pieces that explore philosophical, cultural, and social questions and interpretations. The artist examines how different systems of knowledge and values shape our understanding of reality and the profound influence this has on personal and collective identity.

Sarice Brudet is the artistic director and founder of the cultural project THE SPACE //. THE SPACE // is a place for encounter, dialogue, and discourse within the framework of a
curated exhibition format. Beyond the exhibitions, the goal is to create a space for reflection and art education, as well as to foster dialogue and interdisciplinary connections. The focus is on community and humanity as a practice.

The art space is supported by public cultural funding, grants from foundations, and private donations.
