EGF is a signalling protein that occurs naturally in our skin and plays a crucial role in the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid – the building blocks that ensure healthy and firm skin. As early as our twenties, the natural production of growth factor proteins begins to decline rapidly, and at menopause this decline is particularly noticeable. After intensive research, BIOEFFECT scientists succeeded in producing a pure and effective growth factor that can stimulate skin regeneration and promote collagen production by using genetically modified barley. All BIOEFFECT products contain synthetically produced EGF, which is extracted from this special barley. BIOEFFECT cultivates it in its own CO2-neutral greenhouses. These are heated by geothermal energy. The barley growing in them is fertilised with mineral-rich volcanic ash and watered with pure Icelandic spring water.
