Daily flossing is an important part of oral hygiene because it removes plaque and food particles from places your toothbrush can’t reach: the narrow spaces between your teeth. Here’s how to do it correctly:

• Prepare the floss: Tear off about 50 cm of floss and wrap the ends loosely around the middle fingers of both hands. There should be a taut section of about 2–3 cm between your fingers.
• Gently insert: Carefully guide the floss between two teeth. Avoid jerky movements so as not to injure the gums.
• Clean the tooth surface: Wrap the floss around the tooth in a “C” shape and move it up and down with light pressure—first on one side, then on the opposite side of the tooth.
• Use a fresh section for each tooth: Unroll a fresh section of floss after each tooth to prevent the transfer of bacteria.
• Don’t forget: Even the back teeth in your mouth need care! Take the time to clean them thoroughly as well.
