Aromatherapy 2.0
How these fragrances have changed my mindset in everyday life...
We live in times in which stress, mental exhaustion and a constant flood of information are part of everyday life. I also have days when I find it difficult to switch off. When we recently launched the moods brand at Niche Beauty, the topic of aromatherapy came at just the right time. Even before the official launch, a colleague handed me the first samples across my desk - the Rollercoaster Discovery Set, which is ideal for discovering eight of the fragrances. Without any great expectations, more out of curiosity, I started to sniff my way through. And what can I say: I was hooked. And I still am.
Aromatherapy had been on my mind for some time. - But somehow it was always a little too esoteric for me, too intangible, too far removed from what I was used to in the world of beauty and active ingredients. However, I have long been aware that fragrances can do more than just smell good (or seduce a man). However, I have only really been able to grasp and experience this topic since discovering moods.
The British label was founded in 2025 by Daniel Smith and Gregory Allen and is known as aromatherapy 2.0: traditional scent science meets modern research. The approach? Combining fragrance and science to create a true self-care ritual that specifically supports emotions, mindset and wellbeing - with clinically researched neuro-aromatics made from 100% natural essential oils.
The brand is based on concepts that are also discussed in clinical studies: Scents have a direct effect on the limbic system, the part of our brain that controls emotions, memories and moods. In contrast to many classic aromatherapy rituals, moods goes one step further by consciously using scent as a functional tool that can change our mental state.
And yes, you notice this - not overnight, but in a very subtle, tangible way. Sometimes it's a wave of calm, sometimes a clear focus, sometimes a feeling of: I can do everything today! And sometimes it's just a conscious moment in which I can breathe more deeply and be particularly mindful. Not magic, but definitely a supporter in everyday life.
My moods essentials
Each fragrance specifically targets a mood. What I find remarkable is that the application is as simple as a little ritual. Thanks to the roll-on applicators, the fragrance can be applied effortlessly to the pulse points - wrists, neck or behind the ears. And often after just a short time, I can feel how my perception shifts. Not a dramatic effect, but something close to an inner reset. Here are my favorites:
Charisma MoodRoller
A room and body mist that creates a warm, inviting atmosphere with bergamot, lime, ginger, rose and vanilla - perfect for when I need that feeling of serenity or just a little warmth.
Genius MoodRoller
A roll-on aroma fragrance for concentration and performance with grapefruit, lemongrass, neroli, rosemary and frankincense - my favorite companion for texts, creative concepts and days when I need to keep my head clear.
Elevated MoodSwing
The duo in roll-on format (how clever is that?) combines Euphoric and Hustle to support mood and productivity: sunny floral neroli notes meet focusing grapefruit and eucalyptus notes - a spontaneous mini-ritual for in-between. Love it!
Rollercoaster Discovery Set
This set of eight mini rollercoasters is ideal for anyone who, like me, wants to try out different moods. From calmness and self-confidence to energy and pure joy - a small, personal toolkit for everyday life. And, of course, a great gift.
At the end of the day, one simple realization remains for me: fragrances can be more than just nice companions. They can be tools - little daily helpers that help us to reorganize, calm down and find ourselves in a moment that would otherwise pass us by. Try it out!
