- It is this ‘chadō’ – ‘the way of tea’ – that colours this woody-green fragrance. Opening with a mild sweetness from nashi pear, signature green tea then bursts with herbaceous freshness, while matcha accord brings a subtle greenness. And at the base, hinoki wood – the material of Japanese onsen bathhouses – forms an accord of rich woody, citrusy facets.
- Perfumer: Mathieu Nardin. Born in Grasse along the French Riviera, Nardin spent his childhood in the countryside speaking the secret language of wildlife, which was introduced to him by his beloved grandmother. This adoration for the outdoors combined with his ferocious appetite for reading led him into the world of perfumery. To him, scent has its own prose. He relishes the idea of adding this point of view to the natural ingredients around him to create something unique; “I love to mix, enveloping tradition with incisive modernity.”
