Saint Petal

At first, SAINT PETAL is almost too pretty. Bright, polished and softly floral. But it is never completely clean. There is something warm, strange and slightly dirty underneath, hiding behind the petals like a secret you can already smell but cannot quite place.

Then you step on it.

The violet leaves snap open and everything turns wet and green. Crushed stems, cold sap, bruised petals. Jasmine gets thicker against the skin, while that darkness underneath starts pushing its way out. What felt pretty a second ago suddenly smells deeper, dirtier and much more alive. And it keeps changing. The green gets darker. The petals get warmer. Smoke, dry woods and something almost burnt settle into the crushed flower, while dark leather and oud stay close to the skin. What was hiding in the beginning is impossible to miss now. The flower was never innocent. You just had to crush it to find out.

• Inspiration: Violets are too pretty. So we broke them. It starts with one between your fingers. You press, and what was beautiful becomes green, wet, alive in a different way. The shape is gone. The leaf lets go of everything it was holding back. This is the smell most people never reach. The bruised one. The honest one. What remains is the smell of a flower that has been touched too much. Green. Damp. Slightly bitter. Heavier than you expected. There is something burnt underneath it, something that smells the way old churches smell, the way a room smells after the candles have gone out. The flower was never just a flower. It was already carrying the smoke before you broke it open.
